A lifetime is not nearly long enough to figure out what it is all about? I have passed 60 and I think I am getting old. But it does not hurt me, I feel good. I have made some progress over the years. To my great relief, I have almost no more illusions. The result is that daily life can bring me only pleasant surprises. Dirty tricks no longer bring tears to my eyes. Only gestures of kindness can do that, so I like to thank TIME times and again.
I don’t personalize rejection any more. I realize that the way people treat me often has more to do with them than with me.
I think older people can rate the same events as less stressful than younger people. With age, one can cope better with life’s upsets. An old man may have been fired once/twice, lost loved ones, have survived psychologically and eventually can become tougher.
I may not run as fast as I could earlier but the spiritual side in me has become much stronger. I believe man will not merely endure, he will prevail. Man can be immortal not because he has an inexhaustible voice but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion, sacrifice and endurance.
